Job Description:
As the Police Chief, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, direction, and oversight to the police department. You will work closely with city officials, community leaders, and department staff to develop and implement effective policing strategies, foster positive community relationships, and enhance public safety. The Police Chief will be expected to lead by example, promote a culture of professionalism, and uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Foster positive community relationships through engagement, outreach, and open communication.
• Collaborate with city officials, community organizations, and stakeholders to address public safety concerns.
• Implement innovative crime prevention strategies and community-oriented policing initiatives.
• Oversee internal affairs investigations and ensure transparency and accountability.
• Manage department budgets, resources, and administrative functions efficiently.
• Represent the police department at public events, meetings, and conferences.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, public administration, or a related field (preferred).
• Previous experience in law enforcement.
• 21 years of age or older.
• Strong knowledge of modern law enforcement practices, community policing, and crime prevention.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
• Sound judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
• Demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct and integrity.
• Valid Illinois driver's license.
• Must undergo a background check.
